Dr. David Mitnick is the founder and medical director of New Jersey Family Psychiatric Group, P.A. Dr. Mitnick has practiced adult as well as child and adolescent psychiatry in Bergen County, New Jersey since 1992. After graduating from Princeton University and Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Mitnick completed residencies in both Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at The Payne Whitney Clinic of The New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Since then, he has served on the voluntary faculty of Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry.
While Dr. Mitnick evaluates and treats individuals with a broad range of mental health issues, he has particular interest in the areas of ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s/Autism, Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. Dr. Mitnick believes in a comprehensive, collaborative and holistic approach to assessment and treatment.
He values data collected from other treating clinicians, educators, clinical examinations and patient history as well as from quantitative EEG studies and psychometric assessments; these data lead to a treatment plan developed together with the patient (and where appropriate his/her parents) that includes one or more of a variety of modalities, including psychotherapy and medications.
